Shopping at Laugavegur Shopping Street, Reykjavik Iceland

Iceland . 2013 . Dec 1

If I hadn’t mentioned it already, shopping and dining in Iceland is expensive.  But even if you do not intend to buy anything, Laugavegur Shopping Street is a must-go if you are in Reykavik Iceland.

Laugavegur Shopping Street is a stone’s throw from our lodgings at the Fosshotel Lind and this is where we go to for most of our meals.  With little shops and boutiques lining both sides of the street, Laugavegur Shopping Street is especially charming during winter with its snowfall, perfect for a little window-shopping.

If you are feeling rich and ready to splurge, then there will be plenty of things on offer for you at Laugavegur Shopping Street.  The Icelandic wool products are especially beautiful and of good quality.

Little Icelandic souvenirs were absolutely charming, but absolutely expensive as well.

I love this little Timberland house (shop) here.  It looked as if it didn’t fit in at Laugavegur Shopping Street, but yet had such a lovely quaint architecture that I could not help falling in love with it.  By the way, the Timberland is slightly cheaper than what we get in Singapore, owing mainly to the fact that the prices are related to shoe-size!!

If you are a lover of art and craft and little trinkets, then this shop named ‘Tiger’ will be perfect for you.  Incidentally, we find that this is the only shop in the whole Laugavegur Shopping Street that sells affordable (and even cheap) stuff.

There’s plenty of dining options at Laugavegur Shopping Street, ranging from a moderately-priced cafe to the absolutely posh restaurants.

For those craving for Asian food, you may want to try Ruan Thai restaurant. Or if you are thinking of sampling Icelandic treats, then Sjavargrillid Seafood Grill will be the perfect choice.
